The students of Beckmans College of Design were asked by Svenskt Tenn to create an exhibition based on research by the The Beijer Institute on the future of the ocean.
I found out that if the littering of the oceans continues at its current rate, by 2050 there will be as much plastic in the sea as there is fish. All this plastic will eventually be consumed by fish and in turn by us. Once in our bodies, we don’t know what consequences the plastic may have. To demonstrate this, I created an installation of pipes symbolizing the journey of microplastics into our bodies, as well as how we tend to treat the oceans like a sewer.
